As you may have seen on our previous blog, we are sharing our activities and routines that we do at Spring so you are able to complete these at home with your children.
Below you can find our finger gym activities. These are easy activities and they don’t require too much preparation or materials. Finger gym is a range of developmental activities to improve fine motor skills, it helps to develop strong fingers, hands and arms. It also promotes improved hand-eye co-ordination and manual dexterity.
What you need:
- Small ball of pladough
How to do it:
First roll your playdough into a ball and place it on the surface, push the straw into your ball of playdough. Keeping the straw secure you can then make patterns and shapes using the pasta and threading it over the straw.
Have competitions to see how many pieces of pasta you can get on the straw, what shapes fit with others, how many straws with pasta can you get onto each lump of playdough?
PAINTING WITH COTTON BUDS
What you will need:
- Eco friendly cotton buds
How to do it:
It’s super simple, drop some blobs of paint into a tray and let your creativity go wild – use a hand print as a ‘tree trunk’ and use the cotton buds as tree blossom, try using pegs to keep the cotton buds firm in your hands, make sure to share your pictures of your creations with us!
Make sure to keep an eye on our social media accounts for lots more activities over the coming weeks to help keep your children learning and having fun at home whilst supporting their development. Head to our Spring homepage to sign up to our newsletter with more content and ideas!
